Partial Dentures and Complete Dentures

PARTIAL DENTURES AND COMPLETE DENTURES

Tooth loss can happen unexpectedly as a result of periodontal disease, injury or illness, or it can happen eventually as we age.  Thankfully, there are a variety of choices for tooth replacement such as bridges, crowns and dental implants.  Another effective choice for replacing teeth is that of partial and complete dentures.

Some people may choose partial dentures over bridges, crowns and implants because partial dentures can be removed, as opposed to the others that are permanently affixed in the mouth, making partial dentures an effective, but more affordable, option.

Partial dentures are made from a variety of materials that are molded into replacement teeth.  These teeth are attached to a metal framework that, when inserted into your mouth, attaches to existing teeth and fill the space that has been created by lost teeth.  After some fine tuning and adjustment, the partial denture will snap easily into place, can be worn comfortably and can be removed easily.

Partial dentures are just one of the wonderful alternatives for tooth replacement and can protect you from the common problems associated with tooth loss such as crooked teeth (as other teeth shift to occupy space created by tooth loss), tooth decay, gum disease, speech impediments, difficulty chewing and jaw misalignment.  In fact, tooth replacement does more than just fill the space left behind; it helps protect against the loss of additional teeth.
